This week Cathal and Angus are joined by a very special guest David Hellier, to talk about Brotherhood and the recent WTC warm up event in the UK.
We're not gonna go over all the games, but, like, what was each of your's favorite game, and was there a particular round that you guys enjoyed as a team specifically?
Dave, why don't you go first-
[laughs]
... as I definitely need to consult my notes here [laughs].
I think my first game has to have been almost the craziest one, because it ended in an absolute draw, and I ended up taking the win due to healthy threat of models on the table as a tiebreaker, and I don't think I've ever been in that situation where, you know, after, after six rounds we've tied on [laughs] 18.
That is nuts.
How did it come to that point?
Yeah, it was, it, it came very chess-like towards the end of the game, and I had Magneto left Juggernaut and Quicksilver, I think, and it was ...
Uh, they were healthy.
I was holding some e- extract.
I think you had Sexy Strange was on the other side of the table after Juggernaut ran away from him, and it just came down to ...
Yeah, Juggernaut was over next to Strange, and it was what I did with that move, and the only way I could see getting close to parity was moving Juggernaut as fast as I could across the other side of the table and having a swing at Elektra, um, because she was already injured.
So Juggernaut was gonna take that point off her whe- whatever, and then he had an almighty swing and took her off the table.
And then we look, it's the end of round six, we got 18 points each I think.
The round time has gone, and if we'd continued to score we would have been-
Yeah, but you have to have a winner, right? Because it's the team event.
Yeah, and yeah, because if we'd, if we scored again we both had three points, so it was just, like, you know, that would have just kept ticking over.
Yeah, we just, I just managed to take that, but, you know, lu- that was my best personal game.
Luckily I think we won that round 4-1 anyway, so it, it, it luckily wasn't a, a tiebreaker that kind of swung it for the whole team, but yeah, that was, that was really intense.
That, that's the kind of your brain melted at the end of game one, and you know you've got to play [laughs] five more games over the weekend.
[laughs] Yeah.
And that's true, 'cause I remember looking at the, the scores following along on Longshanks, um, by the end of the first day you guys had done really well, and I con- was congratulating Angus, and he said, "Oh, no, there's another day." So maybe let's dig into that part of the format before- Mm-hmm
... we go onto your first highlight, Angus.
Maybe explain that.
