I do really want, if they could elevate James Marsden's Cyclops to be the leader, I would want him and, uh, Steve Rogers to interact, or at least-

I read the Magneto run that he did too with Cullen Bunn.

Like it is, like the artwork is just so good, and it's a style of artwork that I personally really love in comics.

Um, it's a little bit flatter and it's a li- it's a little bit more kind of, um, it's a little bit more of a cartoonist edge to it, but I think it just really fits these noir s- te- tenets as it were, these noir tropes really well.

And Beast is like, they have a Magneto on their side.

They have a clone.

We need this Magneto.

And I was like, this is a strange argument.

that felt like such a side quest because I'm like, they're going to give him his powers back.

I'm surprised he didn't finally do this one, you know? But, oh well.

Number eight was an X-Men story planned by Joe Kelly and Ed Douglas during their very short run on the book, where Magneto would reveal that he was behind the Nazi concentration camps where he supposedly, you know, learned to hate homo sapiens.

He meant that situation to be an example of how humanity would treat mutants if they didn't rise up together.

But then, in demanding that the United Nations grant mutants their own nation, Magneto tilts the Earth on its axis, affecting world climates.

As, you know, basically, he's used up all his powers.

So then Storm and the X-Men are battling this n- nearly tapped out master of magnetism, and she uses her own weather powers to counteract all the weather changes, you know, brought on by Magneto.

And she dies in the process.

So according to Joe Kelly, in pitching to Marvel editorial at the time, it was very clear that, quote, "With the concentration camps and Storm dying, we knew there would be issues.

One being the out of character villains.

You know, we'll talk a little bit about the unifying of people, but in this, it shows villains like Juggernaut, Magneto, doom coming together with the heroes to help clear the wreckage to to do whatever they could to contribute there's even a scene of doom crying underneath his mask which a lot of people cried that day i cried that day for sure a few times um but people just thought it was this really bizarre thing like where maybe a previous issue heroes were fighting these villains now there's this break where they've all come together and It's more the continuity people that get upset by those types of things, you know, and that here is this issue that it was a one-off.

Now, today, it would be marketed as a one-shot.

And don't get me started on that ridiculousness of one-shots.

And I think, yeah, coming back with a 2026 lens, I very much was like, yeah, there is some like heavy handedness and especially like the zoom in to doom crying I found was like, it was a little very on the nose.

I think it was very powerful imagery, but it is like, especially him and Magneto, like you are often characters who are fine killing a bunch of innocents, like humans.

And the framing for this event was, oh, they're very sad because these are innocents.

But, yeah, so I'll be doing nerdy weddings.

That's the plan, okay? You want to get married by Magneto? Mm-hmm.

That is crazy.

I know he's a name that's been attached to the character of Beast, and I don't need it to be him necessarily, but I do hope that we get a few more cast members joining the fray here.

Will we get a Magneto or anything like that? I don't think that's a realistic expectation at this point in time.

I think it makes sense to focus on a different character like Sinister and having Adam Driver, not anybody steal his limelight, but...

Yeah, just a single piece of casting here took me from being excited and looking forward to this movie to feeling a considerable more optimism about the way this film is shaping up.
