"I need Spicy Rach." Gabi Day said that to me on a call about ads, and I knew exactly who she meant. Spicy Rach is the version of me that shows up when I am fired up about something and want to see it change. She is also the version I have spent years keeping mostly off the internet. Gabi does not have that problem. She shows up as 1000% herself all the time, and that is the whole reason her marketing works. So when we both spent the last six months buried in building out AI for our businesses, we kept landing on the same question. How do you use a tool that averages the entire internet without sounding like the average of the entire internet? Gabi's answer is that 99% of people are using it wrong. Not because the tool is bad, but because they are handing it a prompt instead of a point of view. She has one line about this that I have not stopped thinking about since we recorded, and you will know it when you hear it. This is the last episode in the Human First series, and it is the one I would send to anyone who thinks AI is either a magic button or a moral failing. **Connect with Me:** - Instagram: @racheal.cook - TikTok: @rachealcookmba - LinkedIn: @rachealcook - YouTube: @the\ceo\collective - Website: The CEO Collective **Subscribe & Review:** If you loved this episode, please take a moment to subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! 🎤 Thanks for listening! Building AI on a strong foundation11:49 – 19:31

11:49

Yeah, so I actually...

11:52

First of all, I have to shout out Nicole.

11:54

I do lots of shout outs.

11:55

I have to shout out Nicole Patton.

11:57

Hopefully she's listening to this.

11:58

I just wrote her a testimonial last night.

12:01

She... helped me see what AI could do.

12:06

I guess one of my gifts is that I am very good at fully digesting and metabolizing the frameworks and then applying.

12:16

And I think that skill has served me well for being able to actually implement AI intelligently.

Racheal CookHost

12:22

Yeah.

12:23

And if you don't have a solid knowledge base, a solid pre-existing strategy and understanding of the inner workings of your business and your clients' businesses, And a clear way to communicate that, AI will do nothing for you.

Racheal CookHost

12:37

Correct.

12:38

I honestly believe I saw someone talking about this online who I think they were a marketing strategist.

12:43

I can't remember.

12:44

But there's this idea that, oh, we need to be pushing our kids into STEM.

12:48

Now, don't get me wrong.

12:49

I come from a family of academics, most of them in STEM.

12:52

Hell, yeah, we need people in STEM.

12:54

But I actually think that the people who can leverage AI the best have liberal arts, humanities, writing backgrounds, because we are stronger communicators, critical thinkers.

13:04

We can read between the lines, get the inferences, things like that.

13:09

So I think that you've got to build that muscle independently of it.

13:15

It's why I don't think that...

13:16

I'm really happy to see what Mamdani did with New York City in terms of this was just, as of us recording this, this just happened yesterday, where he put out a policy where there's going to be no generative AI kindergarten through or pre-K through eighth grade.

13:29

Because again, you've got to have...

13:32

You have to be able to think critically if you can make your AI think critically.
