Dave Spencer, Ashley Davis and Kurt Bardella debate the remaining weeks ahead of the midterms, whether Republicans can still make a difference in Congress and why some candidates are distancing…
Dave SpencerHostSo right now, the Senate has been finishing their final week of session before they break for the campaign cycle.
Ashley, are they going to actually get anything done or are they going to sit around, do nothing and then go try to tell people that they should keep their jobs?
And I think the Republicans were realizing pressure from their members that they needed to stay in this week because they couldn't leave on the college football bill that they're passing.
So the rate payer protection plan, there's still some questions about if that's just Republicans putting that on that vote on the record.
Does it give them something to go back and campaign on? There's also potential today or tomorrow, Wednesday or Thursday, if they stay until Thursday, it will depend on a few things.
I'm not sure if that resonates as much for a campaign issue as much as the ratepayer protection.
But I think it was smart for Republicans at least to just stick around and try to pass something or at least have some messaging bills.
