Episode 384 - Red Sox Blaze Through Orioles; Pitching Looks Phenomenal

And the last show we recorded, we recorded the show...

After the first game of the series where the Sox won 6-5, Adley hit a couple of bombs.

Roman hit the bomb in the ninth.

Talked a lot about Roman.

And on that show, even though he hadn't pitched in between the period from two shows ago to last show, we talked a lot about Ranger Suarez.

And that's kind of where I want to jump in.

off on this is the Ranger Suarez.

And Sonny Gray, we can loop the two into one here because they skipped Sonny Gray in an effort to get him rest.

He looked like...

I don't know.

I thought he looked okay against the Marlins.

It's not like...

There are two different conversations, the Ranger and the Sonny one, because Ranger... hadn't looked good for a while.

Basically, since he came off the injured list before...

Well, he got injured in his start against the Angels.

Came off, never looked the same.

They both start in the series against the Orioles, where the Red Sox, four games sweep it, essentially ending the Orioles' hopes of doing anything this year.

It was really a gut punch to the Orioles, where the Red Sox were kind of like half trying, half sitting guys, half putting guys on the IL, but they sweep them.

And look no further than...

Ranger Suarez and Sonny Gray for why they were able to do that, particularly in the Ranger game where the Red Sox win that thing, won nothing.

And he goes seven shutout.

We talked on this show a lot about when the Red Sox throw pitchers that you can trust, you feel good about them in any game.

But the question is, can they trust Ranger Suarez? And lately they hadn't been able to trust him.

He hadn't been good.

In this game, seven shutout, really just looked completely in command.
