From Combat to Healing

It's a lot of that stuff.

They didn't know anything like like we know now, like so many different things.

And more people are more open about it now, but not enough, to my knowledge, because the suicide rates in men alone, for us Keith, man, it's 80% of us every year.

We account for 80% of them, and that's a scary number.

The scariest number, though, was the beginning this year, I was listening to the radio and I heard a report somebody was talking about, said that suicides in 10 to 14 had gone up.

And those are young gentlemen were losing that early, that kind of thing.

So, It's scary, man.

It's scary to think about it that they were losing children at 10 to 14 and the rate is going up, you know, but it's like, no one wants to talk about it though.

Yeah.

I mean, PTSD, as far as far as that goes was, I mean, it was never recognized by the veterans administration until the early eighties.

So

that was, uh, 15 or so years after, uh, I was out of

the

Marine Corps.

Yeah.

Yeah, well, we had a vet of 25 years.

He was the first guest I ever had on this show.

He had said that when he came back, he said that they were telling him he was okay, but he knew.

But he, right now, he deals with it so bad that...

Uh, he can barely go to the store and just do like any average activity, like go to the store and pick up a loaf of bread.

Like most people can for him.

That's a whole process that when he comes back, he's so drained because of the experience he had, because his Humvee had got blown up and flipped.

And he was, he was describing this whole moment.

I was just like, holy crap.

Uh, he was knocked out and he was the commanding officer.
