Pandora

Uh, break down the music into its individual characteristics, separate, uh, music and genres by, uh, not only, uh, what they said the genre was, but the instruments played, the vocals, the rhythm, the melody, harmony, tempo, all that stuff made a difference.

And then all these little pieces kinda came together and, and, and from The Musical Genome Project, Pandora was born, right? So, and, and we all know what Pandora is today, and I remember thinking about that and because the i- the, um, irony of the whole thing.

Here we are, all the 26 year...

Yeah.

It had, yeah, it was 2000.

So 26 years later, and Pandora is, is considered competition for the radio people that built it, right? And I, I equate this to kinda what's going on with the AI conversation these days.

You know, I mean, you're building something that's gonna replace you.

Is Sky Net coming? I mean, is the Terminator gonna show up? What's...

You know, I have to come to your studio and we have to have a camera and we, we film what we do, and then we have to send the, the film off to be developed [laughs] and, uh, and then you, you need to put it on, you know, the VHS tape and send it to a retail store called Blockbuster so your audience can go in and buy the tape and watch it, et cetera, et cetera.

If you'd had that clarity, this is how it works today, this is where it's heading, you would've been an investor in Spotify and YouTube and, you know, and, uh- Pandora and, and you would have picked up Napster and Rhapsody in the process, and you would have ended up with some amazing value creation as a result.

If you'd been an entrepreneur with that same level of clarity, you might have become the founder of-
