But the day did not start with the Panthers making a new addition to their team.

The day started with keeping a core piece locked in for the foreseeable future, as Etu Losterinen said, signs an eight-year extension for $5 million per year, $40 million total.

He still has that one year left at $3 million, earned himself a nice little $2 million raise for the following eight years.

Say what you want, $5 million for a solid third-liner who's also good on the penalty kill, locking that rate in for the foreseeable future.

I think that distinction matters because 5 million is the going rate for a mid to high end third liner.

right you you essentially have lundell and etu stapled to each other now lundell uh lundell's contract is up after the 2030 season etu's extension has an additional like five years beyond that um yeah or something like that but yeah you essentially staple the two of them together for a total of 10 million dollars uh for the next three seasons not bad

you know, do we expect that to lose for Ryan and to be a elite third line player, the entire next for the next nine years? No, but I think it's reasonable to expect that for six of the next nine.

And especially if you retain half, two and a half, two and a half million bucks is nothing by the end of this contract.
