Charlotte Checkers

Everyone that the Panthers put on waivers, including Reinhardt, both Schwentz, Sobrino, Petrovic, they all cleared waivers.

Yes, so they will all be playing and starting the year with the Charlotte Checkers, but that is huge news Florida Panthers fans and I'm sad here and I've told you I hope that we don't have to talk about injuries at least to the extent that we did last year but in case we do we now have all the players that got a lot of experience with the big squad last year back so if injuries do happen this season like we saw last year we have guys who are comfortable playing in this system playing with the Florida Panthers, who can come in and fill the role.

Of course, Brad Marchand is missing tonight's game for the Florida Panthers.

Sanis Vilmanis will slide into that third slot.

And I told you the good news earlier.

He did, in fact, clear waivers, and he will, in fact, be with the Charlotte Checkers.

And definitely to keep an eye out on the farm as really, as I said earlier in the summer, it's going to be the real development year for the Charlotte Checkers as last year was a year about really calling guys up and getting and just filling in spots to put a lineup together.

But if the Panthers are hopefully healthy uh they could actually remain there and also get some get get marinated a little more before they still

had a good season in charlotte despite all the uh the fluctuations uh jordy did a really good job last year with getting them in the playoffs

And then opening night will be... will be October 3rd against the Charlotte Checkers, which, my God, is less than two weeks away, as we'll have opening night there at Giant Center.

I'm your host, Nick Bowens, and today I'm super excited to be joined by a guy that I watched growing up, Bobby Sanguinetti, currently coaching with the Charlotte Checkers.

Bobby, how's the summer? How's the offseason so far? Yeah, it's good.

A little bit too long for my liking and ready to get back to work, but always excited to jump on and help out however I can and talk hockey

still a very young player for his career, so a chance to prove himself.

Or if he goes on waivers, he could be a real big part of the Charlotte Checkers.

So I just wonder as well when it comes to the blue line, because it feels like, at least from just all the offseason moves that they made and knowing that it's not a bunch of turnover on their blue line is, is there really a chance for these blue liners like a Donovan Zabrango or a Alex Petrovich? Do they really have a chance to make the roster? Because we feel like for the most part, the seven defensemen are set for the Florida Panthers.

Forsling, Ekblad, Niko Mikula, Seth Jones, Budas, and Dmitry Kulikov, and then Uvis Balinskis, and then...

I mentioned Cole Reinhardt because he's a speedy winger, not really much of a, of the Florida Panthers identity when it comes to hard, aggressive style, which you also see that with the Florida Panthers and their flexibility with other players like Cole Schwent.

In the case that Lars Eller isn't available for a game, Cole Schwent can be that second fourth line center that they could put into the lineup.

for uh the panthers but also another thing that the panthers are doing they're having a whole bunch of uh ahl signings uh be part of their of their training camp roster and also a recent signing that really came under the radar they didn't um the charter check i don't think i saw this announcement and this was a signing that actually happened uh three days ago on september 11th carson um doorward uh he played for the lehigh valley phantoms all of last season 24 points And so that was a later signing that the Charlotte Checkers did do.

So that's the expectation that he is going to be part of the Charlotte Checkers as he does not have an NHL contract.

But as training camp rolls around, there's some players.

And we've talked about depth pieces here on Florida Panthers Daily that could be get put to waivers at the end of training camp if the Panthers elect to send them back to the Charlotte Checkers.

Some names to kind of keep an eye on is Cole Reinhart.

He's joined the Panthers late last year, and he was good on the bottom six, but the Panthers were also very banged up last year.

I, I, I'm watching games from, from here in, you know, in North Carolina, it's like I'm watching the Hawks, and it's like, you know, Spencer Knight was a, was a goaltender here with the Charlotte Checkers, uh, when he was with the Florida Panthers.

Next thing you know, he's in a Blackhawks uniform.

Like, all right, that's the guy.
