So game one was a special game, right? We had definitely had some good moments, but we also had some pretty bad moments.
We had nine hits, one extra base hit, but 12 left on base, one and nine with runners in scoring position, with nine strikeouts.
Not good, right? So being one for nine with runners in scoring position, we had 12 left on base, which is the third most in a Padres postseason game.
Bases loaded in the second, Machado grounded out, and then Jackson Merrill made the third out in the fifth, seventh, and ninth inning.
So Jackson Merrill, three times, let us down, right? And then, of course, one for ten, Tatis plus Merrill.
Tatis was one for five with two strikeouts, and Merrill was O for five with two strikeouts.
On the flip side, though, Padres led 2-0 early, fouled off 30 pitches in the first four innings, and chased Mizejewski after four innings pitched and 88 pitches.
So while there's a lot of bad that happened, obviously, I mean, offense was just not good, especially Jackson Merrill.
And obviously Merrill has that clutch gene in him, but they found a great way to just neutralize him.
And I think him and Tatis are too focused, like I said last video, on playing hero ball.
Uh, but I will say I'm kind of over the roof fact, but it does suck that if that ball was a home run and maybe didn't hit the roof, it could have been a home run and helped us win the game.
