cool is falling but i want to say matt i too i totally agree with you i also am constantly being asked to move into the territory of like, well, what do we think about Elon Musk? And what do we think about Mark Zuckerberg? And I'm like, I would prefer not to think about these people at all because I think there's, I actually think that if you look at this from a really just like a, you landed here from Mars situation, you would be like, it seems like there's something structurally that happens when you're given unlimited power and money.
And so they might have started out as okay people, but it's obvious that no one can survive that, right? So I don't want to speak to whether Mark was a good kid in high school.
He might well have been, although... you know who knows but like whatever probably not but like whatever you see innocuous he was just like into fencing and you know so like whatever but my point is that like i just think we have enough evidence to show that being a billionaire is really bad for your brain and maybe it should be illegal for your own mental health right we're doing it for you
You know, you posit that this is a zombie company and that a zombie company can be very dangerous, right? That, you know, as they kind of lash out, they cut these costs.
There's still billions of people on this site and it's a more harmful and hazardous site.
But, you know, I mean, throughout Facebook's history, we've seen all these dangers.
We always talked about that in, you know, whether it was Myanmar or targeting young women and, you know, the various noxious things that are associated with that.
the question really becomes, you know, policymakers have kind of looked at this and shrugged it off for many, many, many years.
Maybe now they're catching up to this and, you know, we'll see if we'll get a COPPA 2.0 or if these lawsuits continue against social media.
But, you know, I guess the question is, why is it taking that long? I mean, Meta was before Congress in the 2010s.
We had the antitrust subcommittee investigating them and bringing Zuckerberg up in the hill.
I mean, what happened to all of this that we couldn't stop this company? And even now as a zombie, I'm not sure that we can.
All you do is write about money and politics and how it's corrupting everything.
Okay, so amazingly, this country... allows unlimited political influence by capital in a way that has distorted all of our politics and made it unrepresentative of the people's desires.
