ONCE UPON A WEIRDNESS MAGNET - BLUE DEVIL #8! Our coverage of the classic 1980s BLUE DEVIL comic series continues with BLUE DEVIL #8 from January 1985! Diabolu Frank and The Irredeemable Shag…
Diabolu FrankGuestShagHostOh, that's not fair.
There's a lot of cool stuff in this issue.
Ah.
Well, first off, all right, so this perspective is amazing.
I mean, this is an incredible layout.
So, yeah, you're a good, I don't know, 20, 30 feet above this mobile, like you said, it looks like an elevator, mobile bank that's being moved.
And so you're looking down at the trickster as he's trying to cut with the ridiculously large shears.
You're looking down at that.
I love that part of it.
And the ground is really clever how Paris did this.
There's enough depth.
detail so that you can tell the height and the danger but there's not enough to really distract from the drawing so really your eye never really strays from trickster and blue devil and the uh the positioning of the bodies is really really well done you know trickster leaning back but he's kicking danny in the face danny pulling off the booty it just it looks brilliant i i cannot say enough good things about this cover did you like it though you gave a description but did you like the cover

And what's nice, too, is since Paris is just focusing on the cover, we've had a lot of nitpicks.

Like we've liked the cover, but the background colors were too muddy or the background was too detailed or the background wasn't detailed enough, blah, blah, blah.
It tells a story, right? I mean, it's telling a full story right here on the cover.
So that is, I mean, it almost makes me wonder, like, you know, Ed Hannigan was known for doing cover layouts back then, around probably a little earlier than this, actually.
But Ed Hannigan used to do a lot of DC layouts and then someone else would draw it.
It's such a brilliant layout that it just makes you wonder what inspired him to think of this particular position.
