S2E24 Cal Raleigh Punishes Reds

The Mariners are one of the teams that were very lucky with the timing of the World Cup because it took the spotlight off of them.

And rightfully so.

Well, nice for them because they were not playing good baseball during the World Cup.

Uh, they, they come out of the all-star break.

Uh, I was there.

What was that Friday night, uh, against the San Francisco giants and they, they laid an egg.

They got shut out for the nighttime, uh, of the season, which was tied for the second most in all baseball.

Haven't updated that stat yet.

It might still be that way.

But it was lifeless baseball.

And it was right after Dan Wilson had said pregame, you know, what do you want to do in the second half here? Oh, we want to come to the park and be a team that fights and, you know, shows a lot of heart.

And then you come out and you just play absolutely lifeless baseball.

Thank goodness they come back and they win two straight against the Giants to take the series.

And then last night on Monday against the Reds, man, George Kirby continues to dominate.

That's a six straight start of six or more innings, allowing three or less runs.

He went six shutout innings, only 80 pitches, by the way.

And then Cal Raleigh with a grand slam.

We'll talk about the – I want to talk about the circumstances, but Cal Raleigh, he needs to get going.

Maybe that is the pivotal point in the season right there.

Yes, maybe that is the spark that this team needs.

And – it seems like we've been waiting for these moments all season long.

And when a big hit happened, you're like, maybe that's the moment.

And a steal happens, maybe that's the moment.

They make a play in the defensive outfield, maybe that's the moment.

But this Grand Slam after Cal was disrespected, in my opinion, with the manager of the Reds, Terry Francona, pitching around Dom Canzone, I believe.
