Obscure Reference Ep. 57

A couple of really big games on our station tonight on this September 25th on the FM 107.9.

The Bull catch me and coach Hollywood Mike walk as we have a renewed rivalry.

It is Clarkson at Lee, of course.

Clarkson and Lee, longtime rivals going way back before my time.

And then they got together for a sports co-op that started around 2011, 2012.

I believe it was 2012.

And I tell you what, 14 straight playoff appearances as Clarkson and Lee won the Class D1 state championship in 2022.

And then this year, split apart.

They've separated.

They've dissolved that co-op.

So Clarkson and Lee on their own again in all sports.

And so we get to do that rivalry renewed for football.

And, of course, Clarkson and Lee, along with Clarkson and Lee, a lot of great history.

Of course, Clarkson was a state runner-up in Class D1 back in 2007, 11 playoff appearances as just Clarkson.

Like we said, Clarkson Lee had 14 playoff appearances.

And then Lee, man, how good was Lee High School football in the late 80s and early to mid-90s? All those Fisher guys, right? All those Fisher kids, last name Fisher.

They had 10 state playoff appearances.

They were state champs in Class D1 in 1984.

A lot of playoffs in the mid-90s, too, in the early 2000s as well.

So a lot of lineage there, football lineage in the town.

of Clarkson and Lee, and we're excited to be a part of their first game against each other in about 15 years, or maybe even over 15 years.

So that is what we're going to have on 107.9 The Bowl tonight.

Big one in Class D3 as well, the newly created Class D3 in eight-man football.

Another big D3 matchup tonight on Sister Station Classic Country KTIC.

Catch Tyson Agler for the call.
