Defending champions upset in 4-3 thrillers on NCAA semifinal Saturday

So with that, uh, and that premise of just like, yeah, it was a damn good day of college tennis, let's get into the matches.

They started, again, 10, one, 4:00, and 7:00.

I...

Well, I was gonna say I love the scheduling, but I think there's improvements we can make.

But semifinal Saturday, as it is scheduled right now, is always such an awesome day because you have both men's and women's semifinals happening, wall-to-wall action.

There is no stoppage throughout the day, and at 10:00 AM, you had that all Texas battle between Texas and TCU.

You figured this one was going to be close.

I mean, there's just so much history between these two programs, and without even getting into the team history, like Sebastian Corzine alone can tell you the history of this program.

Sebastian Corzine, as a sophomore, clinches the first ever national championship in TCU's history in men's tennis.

He clinches that in a 4-3 environment over Texas.

His now teammate, Jonah Braswell, on the receiving end of that.

Now, over the past two years, he's been at Texas, so he transferred a few days after clinching that national championship match.

Now he's facing TCU in this NCAA semifinal, and it is ultimately Sebastian Corzine who clinches in a 3-all situation.

He saved five match points against his former teammate, Duncan Chan, who was on that TCU winning team in 2024.

He clinches 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.

He saved five match points in that second set tie break.

And we'll maybe come back to [laughs] that action because it started with doubles, and you expected TCU to take the doubles point, and they did.

Now, I thought Texas seemed to start strong for like the first two and a half games, but then it was all TCU after that.

They had a 6-3 win at one from Duncan Chan and Kozma Roland-De Ravel, and they had a 6-3 win as well from Pedreno and Westin Dyke at the two spot.

So it was 1-0 TCU.

And then at this point you were thinking, "Okay, where is Texas gonna find some quick wins?" And one of the places that they got it was from number four, Oliver Oyarcar, who was the first one off, was able to tie it back up.

And, uh, this one I was expecting to be really close.

I mean, Oyarcar has never lost a dual match, but Oliver Bonding, the freshman, has been fantastic for TCU this season.

There was a long exchange between Oliver Bonding and head coach David Roditi after the doubles.

Actually, b- between the doubles as well.
