Yom Kippur - The 955th Gate

There's a great tzaddik who lived many years ago whose name was Rav Pinchas Karitzar.

Rav Pinchas Karitzar had a chassid whose name was Rav David.

And Rav David didn't live in the town of Karitz.

But he would go to Karitz every Yom Kippur to be by the Rebbe.

How else could a chassid have a Yom Kippur if not by his Rebbe? So since this Chassid, Rav David, was traveling to Karitz for Yom Kippur, very often he would bring Hevra from the town that he was from to Karitz to see what it was like at the court of Rav Pinchas Karitzer.

So one year, there was a bacher who decided to go for the ride.

They may as well have a chavaya, have an experience, to go see the great tzaddik.

They arrived in Karitz.

on Erev Yom Kippur.

They sat down to have a Sudah Mavsekas.

And this young man, in addition to eating Sudah Mavsekas, he also started to make a couple of l'chaims.

One l'chaim, two l'chaims.

At some point he made way too many l'chaims.

And he was feeling a little tipsy, Erev Yom Kippur.

So he decided to go to his host to rest, a short nap, 20 minutes, half an hour, sleep it off so that he could come and have a meaningful Yom Kippur.

He goes to sleep.

He wakes up.

Everybody in the house is already gone.

He says, Oy vey, I must be late.

He's walking through the town of Karitz.

He's walking to the shtibel of Rav Pinchos Karitzer.

There's nobody in the streets.

It's Yom Kippur, of course.

Everyone's going to be in the shtibel by Rav Pinchos Karitzer.

He walks into the shul and he hears the chazen starting the ilah.
