Red Wings GM recounts championship season, discusses future of Rochester baseball

Yeah.

And people still tell stories about seeing Cal Ripken-

For sure

... before he went up to the Orioles-

Yeah

...

when he was a Red Wing.

Yeah.

We, we tell people all the time, you never...

It's, you know, history on deck.

You never know the next time when you come to a Wings game if you're gonna see a Hall of Famer on the mound or at the dish or, or wherever, you know? And, and it's really cool to see our guys, uh, be playing here at ESL Ballpark one night, and then the very next night they could be on SportsCenter making, you know, a top 10 catch.

Uh, and, and so that's really one of the, the cool things about being a Wings fan.

Generally speaking, is there a difference between the minor league fan and the major league fan?

[lips smack] Um, I think...

That's a good question, Brad.

I think, you know, the ability to get close to, to our players is, um, I think what makes the difference between being a minor league fan and a, and a major league fan, right? It's just harder to...

The field seems so much farther away-

Yeah

... as a, as a major league fan, right? And, uh, whereas here, you're so close to the action, right? L- literally, if you're, uh, the on decks, you know, the guy could be on deck, and if you're in the first row of the seats, you're this far away from him.

Uh, we have the autograph booth every night.

We have a different player that goes up to the autograph booth and signs for 25 minutes.

That doesn't happen in the Major Leagues.

Right.

You know what I mean? So you can go and have conversations with these guys, whether you're a pitcher or a position player.

Um, as a season seat holder, you get to, to meet our guys at the season seat holder party.
