Moving Parts Weekly Commodity Market Update
Aug 25, 2026 · 37 min · 10 segments
Today, we’ll discuss the results from last week’s ProFarmer tour, as well as several big updates in the EPA/Biofuels space that took place in the last week.
This is our Tuesday key market drivers call for August twenty-fifth.
We've almost got August in the rearview mirror already.
Where the heck did the summer go? Any rate, there's our contact info.
As always, we would certainly love to hear from you, so let's get into it, uh, this week.
Got some things to talk about.
That is always, um, I suppose, talk-worthy.
Uh, I guess we will discuss as we get into the findings whether it's actually information-worthy or not, but, uh, I think there's some maybe slightly differing opinions on that as we get into it.
Oh, it, it's really good information, Dave, but we'll forget it by next week.
[laughs] Well, that's kind of the historical trend, right?
Yeah.
We, we look at this, we analyze it, we psychoanalyze it, we overanalyze it, and then we wait for the September WASDE to come out and tell us that we're all wrong anyway.
Um, we have a lot of, a lot of our veg oil customers that listen to this call.
Uh, we will talk certainly about the wild ride that was the soybean oil market last week.
Um, notice that the price, if you just look at the week over week change, that page will show you when we get to the, uh, veg oil slide.
If you just looked at that, you would say, "Well, soybean oil prices were quiet last week and didn't do much." Well, that would be incorrect.
Uh, we were all over the map for a whole host of reasons that I'll get to here, uh, in just a second.
We'll also update you on crop conditions.
Again, I think we're, we're kind of coming down the home stretch here with, uh, plenty of moisture in the ground in just about all the major growing areas.
Uh, actually too much moisture in the ground in some of those areas, but, uh, we'll talk about crop conditions and update you.
But I think the bigger news here, uh, are those top two bullets.
Scott, do you want me to save your powder here till we get to the next slide on the Pro Farmer thing?
Yeah, that's fine.
That's fine.
All right.
