We're going to run through what affects the price and what is it that makes a good bivy a good bivy.
It will create a microclimate into which you may crawl or in which your, your heat is not lost to the atmosphere.
And so in an emergency situation, if all you had was the clothes you stood in and a bivy bag, you would survive much, much better through a cold, miserable, horrible evening.
If you're organized, then you can spend a pretty comfortable night in a bivy bag, and all of this happens in a super small, light, minimalist package that allows you to carry it without any undue effort in a small rucksack, a large jacket pocket, or in the case of some of the very, very small super high-spec light ones, in a shirt pocket.
The differences really are you pay a bit for features, you pay a bit for things that will make you more comfortable.
If you use more high-spec fabrics, the price will work because a bivy bag is almost entirely fabric.
Um, they're very hard to categorize because the high-spec, high-tech Rolls-Royce option looks very similar to the dirt basic option.
Given that a lot of them are used by militaries around the world, a lot of them have a kind of army surplus look to them, and many of them on the market are indeed only on the market because some army somewhere has ordered 50,000 of them, and therefore there are another couple of thousand left over for the rest of the world who want to buy one for the laugh.
