Gore-Tex

I've been on a deep dive about PFAS recently and the stuff that we used to use to waterproof clothing and how bad that was for the planet.

Aren't they saying like, it's like, man, if you've ever worn Gore-Tex, yeah, you're covered.

Like there's like so many of like the old school waterproofing stuff.

It's like, trust me, you're not getting away from this shit at all.

It's it's one thing I've I've I just over I was just doing some research on Senator Chris Coons.

I don't know why I was reading something about him like a while back.

And his stepfather is the guy who comes from the Gore family of Gore-Tex.

Oh, wow.

And then on my feet, one of the things that I really worked on over the last couple of years with Sportiva and a couple other brands was trying to figure out, is there one shoe that I can wear all the way from base camp to the summit comfortably? And I ended up on this boot called the Equilibrium Speed, which is actually a single boot.

It basically just looks like a hiking boot in terms of its size, but it's Gore-Tex.

It's pretty warm.

And I layered it with, I had a heated sock, a heated insole, and a custom Dyneema overboot that goes over the boot for the really high mountain part.

Yeah, so every academy for at least the last three or four years, there's been a lot of talks on IOL fixation techniques.

And I'll tell you, you know, when we look at it, still Gore-Tex sutured IOLs, that's the four-point fixation IOLs, and the Yamani IOLs are kind of the two most popular techniques.

We talked to Frank Brody about his device that looks amazing for the, you know, dislocated eye wells capsular bag compromise and whatnot but there's a really nice section it's how do i do it it's on saturday at 3 45 and 3 52. omesh gupta is going to be talking about gore-tex scleral fixated iol techniques and then for the show mu autumn is going to be talking about yamani technique iol placement And it's going to be great to be able to hear these two talks on their particular tips and techniques and how they've refined these surgeries over the years.

There's a lot of different breaks at group sizes, but Dunbar's number is 150.

And W.L. Gore, the company that makes Gore-Tex, actually splits every factory, every plant, every building, they'll have a little mitosis event and split it in two when it grows to the number 150.

They took that number very seriously because they think that 150 is the number of people in a village that you can kind of know, you won't know all their names,

And, uh, y- make sure that you've got [laughs] either you're wearing muck boots or you got a good pair of Gore-Tex boots, because you're gonna get wet.

Um, make sure that you're treating your pants.

As luck would have it, um, I was, been doing the Granger treatment on my pants and, uh, getting those ready to go.

And there's a lot of history that goes Into that into building the Rocky brand, but some of some of the highlights that people might remember when you look back some 30 years ago, the biggest introduction for Rocky in the outdoor category was probably the launch of the corn stalker boot.

If people remember the old Cornstalker, Rocky was the first company to come out with printed camouflage on a Cordura fabric and feature it in a boot that constructed with Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane and Thinsulate insulation all in one package.

And it revolutionized the outdoor boot industry at the time and really put them on the map.

And it's been a great run ever since.
