Where MLB CBA Talks Stand After All-Star Break

People can always complain, "It's never gonna be what it was in the '90s," when you had a myriad of, of Hall of Famers [laughs] competing every single year-

Yeah

... and, uh, you know, many might have been steroid influenced.

But I feel like the, the, the Home Run Derby is kind of back to what it was.

You didn't get the dominant star that maybe Major League Baseball secretly kind of wanted to win the derby, especially with two, two of those guys representing the home team.

But a great story nonetheless when you have a player making more off the derby win than his salary.

That's kind of cool.

[laughs]

Yeah.

Uh, [laughs] I mean, some history there.

The Cardinals, an historic franchise.

Multiple, uh, mega home run hitters have played there, of course, McGuire and Pujols, and you got Jordan Walker being the first to actually wear a Cardinals uniform.

That's really cool.

And yeah, maybe, maybe, just maybe, having some members of the Pittsburgh Pirates with their offense would have helped the National League in the game.

Just maybe.

[laughs]

Maybe.

Maybe scored one run, a few more runners on base.

Maybe, who knows.

We're gonna leave that as an aside.

Here again, Dominic Campbell joining me on Mike Drop from Pirates on SI.

All-Star Weekend, the All-Star Week obviously lingers in the beginning of the week.

All of that was a plus for the league and the, and a showcase for the league.

Maybe even more so this year than in past years, aside from the Netflix broadcast.
