This week on **Melanin Mayhem**, Your Favorite Country Girl is calling an audible and tackling one of the most uncomfortable myths in the Black community: **Black people don’t die by suicide by hanging.** Our history gives us very good reason to question a Black person found hanging from a tree. But when does healthy skepticism become an unwillingness to accept evidence? And on the flip side, when *should* we refuse to accept a quick explanation when the investigation leaves far too many questions behind? We’re looking at several real cases involving Black men, women and teenagers whose deaths sparked everything from unanswered questions and independent autopsies to family investigations, public outrage—and, in some instances, evidence that challenged what people desperately wanted to believe. Then we’re opening up another uncomfortable conversation: **what does it mean to be Black in predominantly white spaces when something goes terribly wrong?** This episode isn’t about paranoia. It’s about history, evidence, instinct, safety—and knowing the difference between *something doesn’t feel right* and *something doesn’t add up.* Because sometimes the official story deserves another look. And sometimes… the evidence really does say what we don't want it to say.
