Meet Me At Musial, Episode 432, Another Stumble Out of the Gate

One, coming to you Friday morning after what's pretty much been a miserable week.

Alan, the Cardinals had...

They played a little pretty well going into the break.

They had Jordan Walker do the Jordan Walker thing.

They were coming off the buzz of JJ Weatherholtz had an extension.

All that just went out the window because this has been a pretty miserable week.

Yes, yesterday being the make-up game against the D-backs, the return home, where you kind of thought you could get a little bit of redemption.

You go and they get kicked with a bad pitching performance.

I wouldn't say a bad pitching performance, but a subpar pitching performance.

And, yeah, I mean, that was the one.

On a road trip heading out there, I could kind of understand, you know, it's – You know, it is what it is.

You start out on the West, and you never know what's going to happen.

You have to face a pretty good Diamondbacks team and blow a couple leads against them.

Then you fail to hit in Anaheim and hopefully get back to St. Louis and play well yesterday, and they just didn't do it.

So we'll see what happens with the weekend series.

Sounds like the crowds are going to be pretty good.

I know it's going to be nice and hot.

You get some central foes with Cincinnati and Chicago coming back to back and see if you can play a

little bit better.

I mean, that's all you can hope for, for sure.

Yeah, there was a lot of talk about pitching this week, which is fair.

I mean, the pitching was not superb at all, and there were some late meltdowns.

But the Cardinals scored more runs in the ninth inning last night or yesterday afternoon than they did in, like, the three-plus games before that.

The offense just has not been there this week.
