Luis Gastelum, after he kind of got things figured out at the major league level, was very, very good.

Bryson Mott, those are some names that should be able to impact your bullpen this year.
Ben SimorkaHOST
54:46
It's going to look like he doesn't know what he's doing.
Ben SimorkaHOST

But it's not his fault that he has to pull Cade Winquest's name again, because that's the only person, you know, he needs somebody to fill up those innings.
Ben SimorkaHOST

And I think...
Ben SimorkaHOST
54:58
He's done a good job with what he's had, but a bad bullpen can really make a manager look dumb.

You've got to have the depth of relief, and some number of these starters aren't going to make the St. Louis rotation, but if a Bryson Motts-like, you know, player can contribute in long relief, that's going to be just as, almost, not just as important, but almost as important as a member of the rotation.
Kyle ReisHOST

Yeah, I mean, think about, think about Motts, Motts and Winquest, right? Like, That's why getting them time at the end of the 2026 season, even if it wasn't successful, and pushing them past some of the lack of success is important because both of those guys have the opportunity, and Mouts doesn't throw for the velocity that WinQuest is capable of, but both of them have the opportunity to fill that multi-inning reliever role that you're going to need to get to the playoffs in a season and then level up in a postseason to get to the promised land.

That's why they're so important, and that's why they have the depth Brian, I'll tell you, you surprised me with the Mason Molina thing.

I would have thought that I would have thought Gerangelo Senja was also in that group.

Ryan Fernandez wasn't much better.
JD HafronHOST

Both had solid major league seasons at one point in their careers and might compete for a spot in spring training, but I'd rather see someone like a Cade Winquest take over this role and win that from him.
JD HafronHOST
31:22
And I think that takes care of everyone.

Like going through the 26-man roster, did I leave anyone off that is still with the team? You know, not counting the rookies, a lot of room for growth and upgrades.
