And as much as we've talked about extensions for these kind of guys, I'm still a little surprised the trigger got pulled on that.

I remember having a conversation with him on the air where he, he thought it would be difficult to get a deal done with him because he pointed to JJ's age and pointed out that, you know, if he would sign a long-term deal, he wouldn't get a shot at free agent until the agency, until he was a lot older, which means, you know, he, he wouldn't get that big bonanza the first time he became a free agent.

His theory was correct because it's like, well, what are, you know, are guys really going to take this deal where they know that they're good enough and there's going to be amazing windfall if they're just patient.

And I think it, um, I think it says a lot about J.J. Weatherholt's character.

And so I've already seen some stuff where people are saying they're not taking shots at him.
