[gentle music] There are so many different ways that we can talk about and understand what makes someone a leader.
And leadership is, I think, a pretty fraught concept in a lot of ways in, in these times.
Definition or way of understanding leadership that I've really found myself gravitating towards in the past few years is just that a leader is someone who's willing to go first, and it's not so much about having it all figured out or having all the answers, but maybe being willing to try something new or something different and being, being willing to be at the kind of front of that wave of change or transformation.
And when I think about people like this week's guest, my friend and colleague, Nasbah Tom, I think very much of Nasbah as a kind of leader.
They are bringing forward practices, culture building, and really making connections inside of somatics around being rooted in a commitment to Indigenous resurgence and land back and connecting with their own culture and traditions and how they practice somatics that I think are so incredibly important and really vital for the times that we're in, and just overdue in some ways, frankly, inside of this, inside of this work.
And they do it in such a steady, grounded way with such humility, um, and that can sometimes make it easy to overlook the power of the work that they're weaving into being.
We really look at the relationship between having a somatic practice in this moment in all of these kinds of converging possibilities and crises that we're faced with.
We talk about building relationship with our more-than-human kin, with the more-than-human world through the body.
We talk about preparing for political and climate catastrophe, and we talk about what it means to resituate somatics inside of much older wisdom traditions.
This is work that is, I think, very, very close to both of our hearts and looks very different in many ways because of the differences in our traditions and positionality, but is also one of the places where we really weave together and I think share a lot of curiosity and excitement.
