So when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him.

And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him.

So he became captain over them, and there were about 400 men with him." This is a pretty big cave [laughs] evidently, so.

We said back at the end of season two, uh, with this major cliffhanger over the summer, just to remind us, this, this is David at rock bottom.

Um, God had brought him to a point where the only thing he had left to hold onto was God.

Uh, Adullam means the place of refuge, and it's now from this spot that the Lord is gonna begin David's journey of refinement, uh, of purification, of, of honing David into the instrument that God wants him to be.

Uh, this band of brothers, uh, would not have been the, the first people chosen for my kickball team.

Right? This, this is not the first people David would've chosen either, but ultimately they become his mighty men.

Though it says they were in distress, they were in debt, they were discontent, but they end up becoming mighty men of valor, honor, and strength.

Uh, Alan Redpath, who's just a phenomenal voice in the, in the Christian world, he said, "Do you see the truth of which this Old Testament story is so graphic a picture? Just as in David's day, there's a king in exile who is gathering around him a company of people who are in distress, in debt, and discontented.

He is training and preparing them for the day when he shall come to reign." I love that.
