Ramah in Benjamin

And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house and gave them into the hands of his servants.

And King Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who lived in Damascus, saying, "Let there be a covenant between me and you, as there was between my father and your father.

Behold, I am sending to you a present of silver and gold.

Go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me." And Ben-Hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel and conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

And when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and he lived in Tirzah.

Then King Asa made a proclamation to all Judah; none was exempt.

This is 1 Samuel 28, 3.

Now Samuel was dead and all Israel had lamented him and buried him in Ramah, his own city.

And Saul had removed from the land those who were mediums and spiritists.

So the Philistines gathered together and came and camped in Shunem.

The Lord rewarded the country for returning to him.

In the 36th year of the reign of King Asa of Judah, King Baasha of Israel invaded Judah and started to fortify Ramah in order to cut off all traffic in and out of Judah.

So Asa took silver and gold from the treasuries of the temple and the palace and sent it to Damascus to King Ben-Hadad of Syria with this message.

Let us be allies as our fathers were.

Ben-Hadad agreed to Asa's proposal and sent his commanding officers and their armies to attack the cities of Israel.

They captured Ejon, Dan, Abelbeth Ma'aka, and all the cities of Naphtali where supplies were stored.

When King Baasha heard what was happening, he stopped fortifying Ramah and abandoned the work.

Then King Asa gathered men from throughout Judah and had them carry off the stones and timbers that Baasha had been using at Ramah, and they used them to fortify the cities of Geba and Mizpah.

There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, throughout their reigns.

Baasha, king of Israel, went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa, king of Judah.

Asa then took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the Lord's temple and of his own palace.

He entrusted it to his officials and sent them to Ben-Hadad of Tabrimon, the son of Hesion, the king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus.

Then Hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the towns of Israel.

He conquered Ejon, Dan, Abel, Beth, Maacah, and all Kinnereth in addition to Naphtali.

When Baashah heard this, he stopped building Ramah and withdrew to Terzah.

Then King Asa issued an order to all Judah.

The Bible reads in 1 Samuel chapter 8, beginning with verse 4.

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah and said to him, Look, you are old.

That doesn't start off nice.

Not really the way you want to start a healthy conversation.

Then David fled from Naoth in Ramah, and he came and said to Jonathan, "'What have I done? What is my iniquity? And what is my sin before your father that he is seeking my life?' He said to him, "'Far from it, you shall not die.

Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without disclosing it to me.'" So why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.

Yet David vowed again saying, your father knows well that I have found favor in your sight.

Here beginneth the 25th chapter of the book of 1 Samuel.

Now Samuel died, and all Israel assembled and mourned for him, and they buried him in his house at Ramah.

Then David rose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

And there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel.
