Virginia Ehrlich: Small Towns, Subscription Boxes and Newspaper Clippings

But I think my favorite part of the box is like the personal touches you put in there.

Yeah.

Including the just like the tissue paper.

You have to tell us the story behind that.

For sure.

So actually, you can kind of see the box.

It's right up there.

My nana saved our hometown newspaper for decades, like literally decades.

I have the very first newspaper, which is actually behind me, the very first Mildmay Carrick Town Crier that was printed.

She had saved, and it's from the 70s, I think.

Yeah, the 70s.

So she had all of these papers saved, and when my nana and papa were moving out of their house... we didn't know what to do with these papers.

And at the same time, I had just launched Acre 75.

And I'm like, I'm pretty sure there's something that I could do with these papers.

So early on, I actually like cut up the papers and put them into the gift boxes and into my online orders.

And then when I launched the subscription box, I was like, I wonder if I could turn this into tissue paper.

So I had one of the copies scanned.

large scale scanned and had it turned into newspaper into tissue paper.

And that's the actual tissue paper that's in the box.

So like you can read, I think it's from 1986, the copy that I, that I chose.

Yeah.

You can read exactly what was going on in mild way, Ontario in 1986.

And it's

so brilliant that you, that you did that to turn it into tissue paper.

Cause the other way, like at some point you're going to run out of newspapers, right? Like,
