This Hour Has 22 Minutes

Now, Fielder tells Holmes' story with a very distinct style.

Originally from Vancouver, he got his start on the CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

On your side.

Before going on to create shows for Comedy Central and HBO.

And we're gonna get a little bit further into that.

But what I want to share with you is that I became aware of Nathan For You, which is his sort of original Comedy Central television show based on something he did in Canada on a show called This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

and um it is a kind of like a like a um what's that show with the restaurants uh where they go no not undercover boss there's a tv show uh bar rescue is what i'm thinking

And no, I'm not throwing that term around lightly.

He was a longtime cast member of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and is now the host of Because News.

So I, I think it's important to point out he's a Canadian.

He was on, uh, This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

It was a Canadian kinda comedy show, regular.

He did these certain segments, got a lotta popularity from that, came to the United States.

They produce slop, and you want them to continue down the path.

You know, you, you piss and moan that your taxpayer dollars are going to create shows like Little Mosque on the Prairie or Corner Gas or, you know, these, these, th- this hour has 22 minutes.

You know, you- everybody pisses and moans at the, the products that they produce on that network.

But yet, when it comes down to dropping $11 billion of taxpayer money so that way the C- the CBC...

That is where we are at.

The network is dying.

The network is dying, you know? Who's tuning in? You know, every now and then This Hour Has 22 Minutes gets a viral clip for either good or worse reasons.

You know, either the, the sketch that they do just rubs people the wrong way, but then I'd imagine that this justifies a lot of the funding that comes in, you know? Well, it's like, "Well, you just dropped this sketch and it got 122 million views on fucking Instagram.

And then, of course, my sister Kathy went on to do, with Mary Walsh, to do This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

It was all Newfoundlanders there, mostly in the early days.

And also, as we were making Faustus Bidgood and the other film stuff.
