Stephen Foster on bold evangelism, and a shift in student culture

So just to press pause on that story and then for us to imagine all the students who have mates

that are like kind of interested and maybe a bit Christian or a bit living dual lives or whatever you want to

say.

If you were speaking to some Christians who are the Libby's of today, what would you say? Oh, be bold.

So

Libby was as bold as a lion.

She'd only met me once.

She was knocking on my door at 9 a.m. And she was absolutely fearless.

And what was I gonna do, say no? No, I wasn't gonna say no.

She was just standing in my doorway first thing in the morning.

So I think be really bold.

And they might be irritated by you, but

long-term, they'll be hugely grateful for you.

So you've gotta live with that irritation then?

I think, you know...

Are you okay with people finding you a bit much, a bit full-on, a bit passionate? For students today? Yeah.

I think so.

I think obviously you've got to be wise.

You don't want to push something down someone's throat, but I think it's okay to say, come and see.

And I had actually said I wanted to come.

So all she was doing was saying, you said you were going to come, come.

So I think that's okay.

But I think generally, it's so interesting because in my generation, people were really hedgy about faith at uni.

It was rare to be a Christian.

And even if you were a Christian, it was rare to really go to church.
