Student orientation

So, in my first and second years, I was at home.

So, I never experienced Freshers' Week.

I really wish I did.

I never had that proper university experience.

And one of them was missing because a man had violently ended her life.

And the girl next to me who was the vice president, she was saying, oh, yeah, I met her in my first day on O-Week and we actually decided to join this community together.

And I just had this absolute moment of just – what a senseless act.

And I won't go too much into it, but it was this thing where she was running a side hustle.

Hello, hello.

Principal Curator of Birds is also the nickname I gave myself during Freshers' Week when I was at uni.

Do you prefer your crow shaken or stirred, Dr. Bond?

Oh, shaken.

Thought it'd be quite fun to say, hey, have your kids survived it? And do you remember your own first week at university? How was it for you? What did you get up to? Any stories, please? Hello at teencommandments.co.uk.

And so my son's pretty sensible, really, but he's been out every night for freshers week.

Okay.

So he's had a full-on freshers' week.

It's all good.

I mean, I didn't go to uni.

So the only memories I've got of Freshers Week is DJing at them.

Yeah.

The band consists of Abigail Morris on vocals, Lizzie Mayland on vocals and guitar, Emily Roberts lead guitar, mandolin, flute, George Davies on bass and Aurora Nijvici on keyboard and vocals.

Abigail Morris, Georgia Davies and Liz Mayland met in 2018 during Freshers Week.

at King's College London and they decided to form a band after frequently attending gigs together at the Windmill and feel inspired by being part of the scene around the venue with bands such as Black Midi and HMLDT.

The Windmill is a really great live music venue in Brixton for those who are in London and want to check it out, I highly recommend.

I used to do all, every.

The one time me and my mates went out during O-Week, We went from, I kid you not, went from Monday to Sunday.

We clocked the whole, so Monday we did, there used to be a place there, it used to be Mercury or something.

Mercury, yeah, yeah, in town.

I I think I was quite young when I went to uni.

I was only 17 and I turned 18 in O-Week and that was a big, big eye opener.

So I had the, you know, the first year on college and, you know, eventually got used to living and studying at the same place.

You become quite insular and you live on college and you might make it to your classes if you're lucky.

But it was a big curve coming from the country, moving to Melbourne and living on college and doing study.

So you've touched on some of the challenges of adjusting to study as a young person, particularly with the O-Week challenge when you're coming of age, I guess.

What are some of the highlights for you, like a light bulb moment where you felt like, oh, podiatry is definitely right for me?

Yeah, that didn't come to me until the last year.
