And, um, I'd love to dive in, because we are in this period where we're about to enter September, and I think September can be that year-end sprint.

Uh, I think Labor Day to Thanksgiving can be a very tough stretch of the year.

When we think about sustainable performance, I think it's such an important one, what are your practical strategies?

Well, September through to Christmas is, like always, this incredibly intense period.

Kids are going back to school, um, businesses moving into the year-end sprint.

Um, you're focused on delivering the year, working out what needs to happen next year, budgets, planning, um, also performance and development conversations, um, all while Thanksgiving and Christmas and everything that comes with family life starts happening all around you.

Um, this year that sprint is particularly real for me because Finality has a lot going on.

Um, we have the prospect of two new payment systems going live before n- year end.

Um, so I think generally you kinda have to accept that there just are periods in life when you simply are gonna be running pretty hard.

Um, and for me, I think the important thing is that being clear about what really needs to get done and doing those things properly, um, like coming back to performance conversations for example, are a good example.

Um, I tend to drag my feet a little bit, um, 'cause it's a lot of admin and you gotta use the system, and you gotta log your comments, and you gotta set up meetings, and you gotta do that in and amongst everything else.

But they matter enormously, um, both to the company but also to the person on the other side of the table, so when I do them, I take them really seriously.

Um, I think my challenge has also always been about pacing myself through this period.

So historically I get to Christmas, and then I promptly get ill [laughs] like the first half of the vacation.

So I'm trying to get better at not, uh, arriving at the finish line completely depleted, but I do think you have to enjoy the journey, right? So it's really busy, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, whatever holidays you're celebrating, all those things with friends and family, they're part of life, they're not interruptions to it.

Um, so you don't wanna be so focused at getting to the end of the year that you miss all the good bits along the way.

But I love what you said there that Thanksgiving, Christmas are part of life, not interruptions, so I think that piece is really, really important.

And [clears throat] excuse me, you said there that, um, accepting that some periods you are gonna have to run hard, and I suppose as long as that running hard isn't the, the baseline throughout the year, but it's like sometimes th- you know, there is that, there is that sprint.

And you said also, you know, be really clear on what needs to get done, so I suppose that clarity informs where your attention, your focus, where that energy goes.
