"Acorn" 10.6.26

This is gonna be a very short segment to open.

I have a ton of footage for OU Live, which is Oakwood University, my alma mater.

And they call it OU Live every year, the first, uh, the first week in October.

First weekend, excuse me.

And you can hear my voice is absolutely shot.

They bring in kids from all over the country to look at the school, and they have like this three-day event where they showcase Oakwood University and people come in, they, they actually stay.

If you know somebody that's there, you might be able to stay with one of the students.

When I came down 30 years ago, I stayed with, with my boys, James Clark and Kyle Golson, that I grew up with in Columbus, Ohio.

I stayed right in their room.

And I got to know people that...

You know, I ended up going to Oakwood.

I got to know some of the guys on their wing, and [chuckles] when I got to Oakwood, I knew those guys, and it was just a great experience.

People come down, they're wearing their merch from, from their school.

Oakwood is a faith-based, um, organization, so there's a, a church element into it.

You have concerts.

I, I wanna brag on my school.

Oakwood...

Dynamic Praise and the Oakwood Aeolians, Oakwood probably has two of the best five choirs in the world.

Like, we can, we can sing.

No diss to Howard, no diss, uh, to Fisk, no diss to Hampton.

You're not messing with us when it, when it comes to, to singing.

You're not...

Nobody's messing with, with the Oakwood University.

And I was, I was in the Oakwood Aeolians for four years.

I was a traveling baritone in their core group of about 40 people.
