Jungle Roar Bengals '26 Captains Lots of Leadership, Ja Marr, Tee, Shemar return to practice Monday

We don't have a lot of time here because I know you have a commitment coming up.

But I want to talk about Bengals leadership.

The captains announced here on Monday.

Of course, really no surprise on the offensive side.

The usual suspects, Joe Burrow.

Ted Karras, and Jamar Chase.

On defense, you had two of the three.

Actually, all three are new, but two are new to the organization.

Brian Cook and Dexter Lawrence.

I think those are great choices.

And I love the D.J. Turner pick.

He is also a captain.

And then the seventh and final captain, captain of the special teams, Evan McPherson, joking with reporters in the locker room, saying, I'm not just a captain of one or two or three people in my room.

I'm a captain of 12 because of special teams, which I thought was a pretty interesting point by a guy that had a spectacular preseason.

All right.

Skinning on the defensive side of the ball, I want to talk about Dexter Lawrence and Brian Cook and why them serving as captains in their very first team in the organization is so significant.

Why do you think it is?

Yeah, I think these guys haven't been here for a long time.

That shows how quick the impact that they have made.

Brian Cook came a little bit earlier in free agency, Dexter Lawrence in the trade, and I think right away you see the impact of what those two guys are.

I mean, Dexter Lawrence to show up, what, a day after he got traded for in the OTA, actually in the kind of phase-in portion of the OTAs, the Right.

Conditioning portion of OTAs.

And then Brian Cook to come in right away and just kind of have that.

I don't want to call it a mean mug because that's not fair, but you can just tell he is all business, man.

And he's a guy that he'd be the first one to set somebody straight in that locker room, no matter who it is.
