I heard a great quote once from a swing dance instructor many years ago when we were just talking before we started the lesson.

Well, what does it mean? How does salsa dancing make you feel alive? Well, first is the connection because you have to connect with a partner.

And next thing you know, you start on, you start stepping and then you lose track of time.

It's basically just like a conversation in a way on, on the dance floor, just this unspoken connection.

And it's just beautiful to see people express themselves and, and, You have to improv sometimes.

And to learn how to recover quickly and still maintain a friendly attitude, a helpful attitude, a supportive one.

I mean, it's just so many great lessons that translate beyond the dance floor once you're done dancing.

It wasn't like, oh, let's just, it wasn't like this linear, you know, easy, streamlined path.

They were promoting salsa dancing as the theme for uh the spring formal that year and the unbeknownst to me the lesson that we were taught was terrible like yeah no frame of reference and so when you have no frame of reference you just think you're the one that's bad at it you just think oh the instructors know what they're doing i must not and so i had this very fixed closed mindset to oh that was embarrassing i don't want to do that anymore i'm clearly just not cut out for this and i already kind of took myself out of the equation And the crazy thing is that when I got to pharmacy school, a friend of mine said, you got to get another chance.
