Clearly it's been on Forrest's mind.
[laughs]
Nick's mind, and our lovely Alex's mind.
Yeah.
Perfect.
She, despite her biology, has thoughts.
It's a miracle.
[laughs]
So yeah, it's been on my mind, and like you, Forrest, I gotta remind myself, "Why am I doing this?"
I think being in training, there's something about, like, this thing that you've already mentioned, Forrest, this cadence of, "Okay, well, I need to achieve this level of classwork, and I need to, you know, in, in the fall take these classes for these two," whatever.
"I'll write this paper.
I need X amount of hours." I think, though, that for me at least, as I've, like, looked on, like I'm closer to the other side where I can see a little bit of, like, eventually I'll be done with these classes, and I'll have completed these numbers of hours.
Like, what are, what are we doing here? What's the project like? And then I'll have some patients, and I'll continue thinking about them.
But-
Yeah, the question kind of divides for us because we're in training, as Forrest mentioned.
Maybe in terms of the spirit in which Dave asks it, like why did we get started? What made us begin wanting to be psychoanalysts, trying to be psychoanalysts? And then as Forrest talks about the duration of the training, another, an associated question is why are we still, why are we still doing it? [laughs]
Yeah.
Like, why haven't we given it up yet?
Yeah.
Like, how has this not become so discouraging that we went like, "Okay, that was, that was good.
Back to the day job."
Yeah.
Well, what brought you, what brought you into the fold, Forrest? Why the hell psychoanalysis at the first one?
Clearly it's been on Forrest's mind.
