Drama in court today as a former American Idol contestant broke into uncontrollable tears.
Caleb Flynn was convicted of murdering his wife, Ashley, so he could be with his mistress.
Today at his sentencing, he sobbed as heartbreaking statements from his two daughters were read in court.
The 40-year-old wore orange prison fatigues and shackles as he entered the courtroom.
He tearfully read a statement, the first time he's spoken in court.
I did not kill my wife.
His hand shook as he read, and he continued to insist he was innocent.
Then his slain wife's sister spoke, denouncing the former pastor.
And Caleb, you took Ashley from this earth.
You shattered a family that trusted you.
His brother-in-law read a statement from Flynn's 11-year-old daughter, Ava, who condemned both her father and his mistress.
It was your choice to have an affair.
It was your choice to go off with that dirty girl.
Then another scathing Dear Daddy letter was read from his 13-year-old daughter, Alyssa.
Ashley Flynn was the best thing that ever happened to you.
You had the best life ever and you decided to throw it away for a girl who was half your age.
He was convicted of killing his wife, Ashley, at their home earlier this year and staging the scene to make it look like a home invasion.
Now the final chapter in the tragic saga of a fallen idol.
