And so there were tons of great speeches, and in fact, I started to collect clips here and there of like Caroline Leavitt, who was amazing, and Ted Cruz, who was also amazing.

Everybody was amazing.

But those two were the highlight.

[upbeat music] Martha, did you see, I don't know how much of the, uh, o- of the event you caught, but did you see some of the other speakers, uh, in the arena? There was, there was, uh, Karoline Leavitt.

Yeah, I saw, I saw Leavitt, and I saw Don Trump Jr.

Uh, Karoline Leavitt, of course, no longer the press secretary, um, a- and had, had a, uh, uh, one gag which, uh, received, uh, a huge laugh, uh, where she, guess what? Slagged off the media.

It feels good to be back behind a podium.

Some more news from, uh, the White House.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is on her way out, but I read that instead of replacing her with one person, Trump might use a rotating cast of officials to handle press briefings, which is code for nobody wants that job.

[laughs] Honestly, he can save people a lot of time by just having an Alexa up there saying...

That's fake news.

He said they talked to him about it.

I know the White House, the former White House press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, had talked to him about it.

But when we ask people more broadly throughout the Trump administration about this, People said they essentially caught him off guard last night when he brought this up publicly on stage.

I also spoke with one White House official, Anderson, who told me that this morning they were kind of scrambling to put together a list of talking points to explain that announcement, notably when we did see that kind of... memo come out from the White House, it didn't really explain how this would work, how it would be paid for, any of the details, really, that you've heard a lot of Republicans asking about.

You know, not everybody's in a smile because not everybody likes this person, but I like her.

She spoke at the convention last night.

Oh, she was there.

And let me just say, let me just say, it feels much better speaking to a stadium full of Patriots than a briefing room full of journalists.

She had him in the palm of her hand.

Levitt.

No, Caroline Levitt, sorry.

Yeah, Caroline Levitt.

No, right now it's actually Don Jr. I'm sure whatever he's saying is so important for this country.

But hold on.

It was a crowd-pleasing time.

As you can see, Caroline Levitt was there.

She gave a brief speech.

The crowd was thrilled to see her back in action behind a podium.

And let me just say, let me just say, it feels much better speaking to a stadium full of patriots than a breathing room full of journalists.
