I always tell like people, my mantra is live in beta.

Living in beta is like, whatever gives your gut and like curiosity, those tickles that you can't sleep, go do it.

Right.

Like after college, I was supposed to live in Pittsburgh and work for Kaufman's or whatever corporation offered me a job in that area.

Cause you couldn't get a job in New York.

But I was like, I just want to go to New York.

Started going to job fairs for colleges that I didn't go to around New York.

And that's how I got my first job

in New York.

And your first job was Victoria's Secret? It was Federated and their training program at 11 Penn Plaza.

And I was like, it's on 34th street.

I've made it.

And I literally drove a U-Haul from college to New York, literally had to ask Federated who hired me for roommates.

Cause I'm like, well, you pay me a salary.

It's not enough.

for me to have an apartment, but I also don't have any friends here.

So they introduced me to two people there and I lived in like the armpit of Hoboken and worked in New York City.

That wasn't what was supposed to be on paper, right? It felt risky.

Another example, I finally like have a very strong foundation in fashion.

Working for Victoria's Secret, got a 401k, six figure job, like growing, growing, growing.

I quit.

I'm like, I want to start my own company.

Now, anyone outside looking in was like, Michelle, why would you do this? You have a one-year-old, you know, you have all of these things happening.

Your husband's in finance.

The financial markets are terrible.
