Um, what a game, and, you know, I, I think Coach Rhule said it best, and it felt like this, that it was two heavyweight fighters battling it out.

But somehow, Cirles, to me, this close loss felt different because you could see that this is a really good football team that matched up with one of the best football teams in the country.
No, it's not like, uh, we were a huge mega underdog that came in and almost upset Indiana.
This, for me, feels like we are, talent-wise, starting to get more on brand and on match with teams like Indiana, where we can go toe-to-toe with them from a schematic standpoint, from a personnel standpoint, and it's gonna come down to things like penalties, turnovers, critical situations in the game that are gonna flip from the win to the loss, not as much the big talent gap differential or the coaching gap differential.
So it was really promising to see that, but it was also equally heartbreaking to-
... see a team get dominated like they did there for a majority of the game and still not be able to win the football game at the end.
And that's a tough pill to swallow as a fan, as a player, but I can promise you it's even harder as a coach.
And so there's gonna be a lot of, lot of soul-searching this week because you can't allow that type of loss to deflate you when you still have the entire back half of your schedule to go, really getting into the meat.
You've gotta find ways to take corrections from that film, understand what you did well, and be able to all put it back together going into next week.

Uh, Coach Cignetti was very complimentary of this football team, and I'm sure they'll say that they weren't at their best.

But I, I think for me too is there have been times where maybe Nebraska's been in these kinds of games against these teams and have played absolutely out of their mind, but I think y- you could say as, as good as maybe they played at stretches, it's still not their best four quarters, which-

This team has yet to hit their ceiling, which is also a little frustrating, but also encouraging at the same time.
I mean, it's, it's time to no more fiddle-fartin' around, no more, "Oh, we're close," no more, "It's one guy here or there." It is time to hit stride.
It's time to get to the ceiling, right? Get to the ceiling and start playing week in and week out at our potential, not trying to meet our potential.
