H&J 149 - No Tater Tatis

Uh, a lot of guys headed to the IL this week.

We'll start with the catchers.

Drake Baldwin, Cal Raleigh, Ryan Jeffers, Fran- Francisco Alvarez, and Kyle Teel all down and out this week.

Uh, that really thins out the player pool at that position.

Um, where do we look for help?

Well, there's not that many places.

So in a 10-team league, there's probably still somebody good out there like a Dillon Dingler that no one ever bothered to add, or an Adley Rutschman that someone cut early and nobody ever picked back up.

But if you're in a slightly deeper league than that, it gets a little bit messier.

And so I'm gonna give you some names that I want you t- you know, to actually consider as someone who might be a plus in standard category leagues.

But then we're gonna talk a little bit about, like, when do you not bother? When do you leave it blank? So let me give you the easy ones.

Gabriel Moreno, Kybert Ruiz, Tyler Stevenson, uh, Carter Jensen, Carson Kelly.

If those names are out there, go for it.

Especially in a points league, you wanna prioritize Moreno and Ruiz, and then following that, Kelly.

You care a little less about Stevenson or Jensen.

In a category league, it kind of depends on the categories.

Moreno and Ruiz are ratio guys.

Stevenson has a little bit more pop.

Carter Jensen has a lot more pop, but really bad ratios.

And Carson Kelly just kind of gets hot for a short time, but plays less than the other four guys.

So you can kind of, you know, just see what's in your league.

Any of those four guys, kind of regardless of format, you probably want them instead of the extra roster spot.

Now, in a points league, uh, it's actually pretty easy to just switch to a streamer instead of a catcher in most points leagues.

So if you can't get someone that's gonna play close to every day, so like even Carson Kelly in a points league, you have to start taking him off the list 'cause he doesn't play enough, right? You need like, I need the most points per roster spot, and so then you might...

You know, if you can't get like a Gabriel Moreno or a Kybert Ruiz in a points league, you might think like, "Yeah, you know what? I'll just go without.

If my league allows that, I'll just go without a catcher for a little bit and wait for my guy to come back," depending on who it is, right? Some of them are back sooner, like Drake Baldwin's gonna be back pretty soon.
