I had Kels back in the studio, to unpack some of her more recent findings, namely we get into the hottest topic on the globe right now, and that is ai data centres. Kels is a spiritual soul, who isn't…
I mean, I think that The research that we can see, that is there for us to read, it doesn't look good for the environment.
It uses a lot of electricity.
I think a lot of people think that this megawatts is like data, but megawatts is electricity, computing power.
This is one of the biggest comments I get any time that I put an AI data center video out.
Oh, look at somebody complaining about data centers while using data.
Right.
Okay.
So for what we use currently right now, for our scrolling, our cloud, for the businesses to run, all of the data that we have, we use five megawatts of power for that in Canada.
We have 337.
There was some leaked documents from the government of Canada that said by 2030 that we are going to need 5,500 megawatts by 2030.
With these 96 new proposed projects, they are bringing in nearly four times that amount.
So 20,000 megawatts is what's coming.
can't remember off the top of my head.
I found them online.
You found them online? Yeah.
Okay.
Now, my question is then, if we're constantly being told, like, oh, we need more, we need more, we need more.
Like, we're currently operating on five megawatts now.
So why do we need 20,000? Hmm.
Like it just seems like such a, like it's such a, right? But what's happening is the United States power grids are failing.
So all of these tech giants are moving north because, especially to Alberta, because we have deregulated, right, energy and natural gas and it's cold.
