Interview with Nathan & Beth Busenitz

Maybe just a little bit about family life.

What are some of the things you enjoy doing? And, you know, Nathan, I think we all would recognize that occasionally a dad joke slips into your sermon, which we all appreciate.

So life around your home must be fun.

But what are some of the things you guys enjoy doing? And help us get acquainted with your family that way.

Well, since you brought up dad jokes.

Yeah.

The goal of a dad joke is not actually to get a laugh.

It's just to get a reaction.

And whether it's a groan or an eye roll or a dad stop, it's so wonderful.

It's a life-giving thing.

And really only dads get to understand it, I guess, until you have grandkids.

And then it sort of, it also elevates.

But...

In terms of things that we enjoy doing as a family, honestly, just spending time together, hanging out.

Maybe it's playing board games or going on trips.

When the kids were little, we used to take road trips up to see Nana and Papa up in Washington.

These days we love going up to Yosemite or sometimes out to Palm Springs or down south, maybe to Disneyland or wherever.

So it's trips and those kinds of things are just a delight for our family.

One thing I was going to just, as you're asking that question, Mark, thinking about is the way in which Grace Community Church has ministered to our kids through the years.

And I mean, part of what I hope to emphasize, even in this time together with all of you, is just the impact that you have made on the lives of our family has been such an incredibly rich blessing and investment from you to us.

And we're just so grateful.

I think of our kids going through some of the Sunday school classes.

There was a class here where one of the teachers, Mr. Driscoll, used to give the kids a Bible with their name embossed on it if they learned all the books of the Bible in order.

And so our kids have those Bibles with their names embossed.

It's just so precious.
