Um, and, uh, each, each person's, uh, input was, was equally, uh, equally, you know, uh, honored.

And, um, so it was, uh, it was kind of funny cause I was at WLC five and Warren and, uh, I came home from Warren, repacked my bag, hitchhiked to California, backpacked in Yosemite for five weeks, came back home, repacked my bag, and we drove to Miami for the convention and the World Lit Conference.

That was my summer of that year.

It was pretty, pretty busy summer.

On Thursday morning, July 22nd, Dr. Desmond Kidd, Yosemite National Park's medical director, had just finished a busy 24-hour shift at the park's clinic.

It was, after all, the height of summer tourist season, and the 36-year-old physician was beat.

But not long after he arrived back at the log cabin he shared with other park employees in Yosemite Village, his pager went off.

And she's been decapitated.

So imagine this scene.

To recap, 54-year-old Sandra Johnson Hughes of California was last heard from on June 26, 2020.

Sandra had embarked on a solo camping trip in the Sierra south of Yosemite to escape from the current pandemic.

Sandra had recently moved from Maui, Hawaii to California in June of 2020.

She had trained to be a park ranger in college and was experiencing the outdoors.

It sits right on the border, almost equidistant there between, or straddling Tennessee and North Carolina.

Even with all the stuff that was going on a few years ago, the lockdown and everything, it saw over 12 million visitors that year.

And the next runner up is Yosemite National Park in California.

Same time period, it's only like five or six million, yet there's so many, many more missing in Yosemite.

Flames from the dome fire are spreading uphill tonight as tough terrain and winds keep challenging fire crews.

Cal Fire reports this blaze in Yosemite National Park has burned more than 1,100 acres.

The dome fire has no containment numbers since it ignited yesterday morning.

If you haven't watched the documentary Solo.

So in the end, another risk guy, he free soloed the dome in Yosemite, which means he did it without ropes.

But the documentary or the film is about how many years It took him to do like 10 years of preparation.

He tried to do it one year, wasn't confident.

Mm-hmm.

And Yosemite and places like that.

Well, yes, I guess, but also I guess in the UK as well.

What if you reach a hold, but the hold happens to be next to a hidden nest of some description and whatever is in there bursts out? I think that sort of deeply unlikely occurrence is probably the main reason I don't want to do big wall climbing.

Europe's got beautiful places.

Most recently, we went to the Dolomites, which is such a, that is scenery as dramatic as Yosemite.

Yeah.

coupled with no crowds, coupled with food as good as in the Provence, it has everything.

Yeah, awesome.

And I have to ask you a rock climbing question because I'm close to Yosemite.

I don't rock climb.

I'm too scared.
