Brenda was also director for over a decade at the former Global Change and Sustainability Center.
Brenda's research focuses on the geochemistry of Earth's surface environments, particularly the role of ethnogenic sediments in water and linking climate, landscapes, and biogeochemical signatures.
Her work spans topics from desert dust generation and transport to the geochemical signatures preserved in soils and sediments that help reconstruct past environmental change.
By combining field observations, laboratory geochemistry, and large-field environmental data sets, her research helps us understand how surface processes shape ecosystems, water resources, and climate through time.
