Tommy FreshHostLet me just pull up my tweet so I get the numbers right, because it had to do with NextFest, and I figured it was relevant, obviously, with NextFest being this week.
More than half of the games in Steam Early Access have not been updated in over a year.
So there are like 6,900 games out of the 12,000 games on Steam that have not had an update in 12 months.
And that's like from a notice that Steam puts on the page that I'll actually say hasn't been updated.
But, interesting enough, games with over 1,000 reviews ended up making it to full release about 80% of the time.
So, I just think this is really interesting because I feel like early access games still have... that kind of like poor reputation right where like people think it's kind of a cash grab sometimes and you would think i feel like nowadays especially with all the games we've talked about you know we especially this time of year we've been seeing so many 1.0s we're going to talk about a few soon um that it seems like oh maybe that that's kind of a fad that's like falling away you know early access of course there's certain games out there that never end up getting finished but like It feels like maybe that wave was over, but based on the data...
And to me, that is a huge failure on developers that need to update their game, even if it's just like hot fixes, things like that.
But I think that we're not out of that kind of... early access, poor reputation pit yet, right? Where it's like, there are still a lot of games out there that just don't end up getting finished.
