Frank and Thomas are joined by their friend Jo (known as rebelaunt on Twitch/YouTube) to discuss Resident Evil's first live-action reboot, and the franchise's first live-action film in five years…
Welcome back to Raccoon City, where it's 1998 and nobody knows what the fuck a chat room is.
I'm Thomas, back with my co-host Frank to discuss the first live-action Resident Evil film in five years, Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City.
And today we'll be joined by a special guest, our good friend and Twitch streamer, RebelAnt, or as we know her, Joe.
Hello, everyone.
Thanks for having me on.
Yes, welcome to the show.
Joe, before we start, we always like to ask our guests, what is your experience with Resident Evil?
Well, I'm so glad you asked because I don't have much experience with Resident Evil.
Many years ago, I played Resident Evil 5 just for a fun co-op experience.
And at the time of recording this podcast, I am streaming the first Resident Evil game on Twitch.
And I've seen this movie, which I just watched last night.
That's it.
That's all I know.
The game or the movie actually gave me some spoilers for the game, I think.
Yeah.
So that'll be.
We'll see.
Don't be so sure about that.
Yeah, I'm kind of wondering how much was altered.
I think by the time we're done with this episode, you will have things spoiled for you for sure, because Thomas and I will probably be complaining about it.
Oh, that's fine.
She'll just forget anyways.
Probably.
And then we also have a game.
Thomas, you can introduce the game and I'll deploy the list once you're done explaining it.
So we ask every guest on here to guess the correct order of the films in the Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil series.
Okay.
You don't even know how many of them there are, right?
I don't know how many movies there are.
I don't know anything about them.
So here is a list of movies and or movie subtitles that may or may not be in the series.
And anyway, here's the full list randomized here.
Okay, so...
Oh my God.
If you want to put those in whatever order you think they're in and how many you think there are, you just tell us when you're done, okay?
Are these just movies?
A couple are from different movies, but I will say most of these are Resident Evil movies.
So I just gave List...
No, her name's not List.
I just gave Joe a list of about a dozen titles and subtitles.
Some of these are fakes.
Oh, what?
And there are only six movies in the series.
So...
I told you that it wasn't going to be all of them, but I want you to go ahead and read the lists that you've ordered from beginning to end based on what I gave you.
Okay.
I've got infinite darkness, damnation, afterlife, resurrection, resident evil, apocalypse, extinction, nemesis, That's just a bad guy's name, right? Does he even have his own movie? Whatever.
Vendetta, Retribution, Degeneration, Reloaded, The Final Chapter, Biohazard, and Revolutions.
You don't have to worry about those.
Are they in the correct order, though?
No.
Oh, damn.
Afterlife is movie four.
Resurrection is from The Matrix.
So that's not actually one of these.
Resident Evil is the first one.
Okay.
Now, Apocalypse actually is number two.
So you got that one right.
And shockingly, Extinction is also number three.
So in a weird way, you did get the first three correct.
But the fourth one is not before the first one.
I thought the first one would be a gimme, but I guess not.
Nemesis is nothing.
That's the subtitle of one of the games.
Vendetta is another animated movie.
Retribution is five.
Degeneration is from one of the animated movies and Reloaded is also the Matrix.
Final Chapter is number six.
Biohazard is one of the games and Revolutions is also the Matrix.
I did pretty well.
You know what you did? You did four, one, two, three, five, six.
So if you just moved four, I mean, you got five out of the six right.
Exactly.
So we're going to go right into the history of the project and details of release.
