Patriots vs Steelers Week 2 Preview Feat. Really, Flawed Football

So before we get fully into the matchup, I know we already started talking about what the Steelers are, but I'd always like getting a wipe check of the other team before we get into the nitty-gritty of the matchup itself.

So obviously Steelers coming off another playoff berth, another classic Mike Tomlin playoff berth where you don't even know if this team's competitive till week 11 and they win games that you never really understood how that game even went.

And then guess what? They're a 9-10 win team winning the division and going to the playoffs.

Mike Tomlin's not there anymore.

I always call him the bitter exes.

That's like one of my favorite nicknames from this offseason.

But And Rogers and Mike McCarthy are back together.

And Rogers obviously won two MVPs with Mike McCarthy as his head coach and play caller.

How are the vibes around the Steelers fan base going into this season?

Really good.

So it's funny.

I feel like there was a breakup with Coach Tomlin for different reasons.

Some fans were just like, we're tired, we're bored, we need something new.

And other people were just like, we want more offense.

And so when you get rid of him and you bring in McCarthy, everyone's excited.

But then the first game, your offense technically only scored 13 points.

We scored 20 because our defense scored, but our offense only scored 13 points.

So part of us is kind of like okay when is this going to get going because the game looked very similar to a coach Tomlin game so which I'm okay with that right all he did was win so it's fine but it so it's like so I don't think we know what to do yet I feel like we're all kind of either waiting for like the next big thing or waiting to just this to be just who we are I don't think we know and that's what makes this interesting we haven't been here in a long time I don't know what we we're all kind of like I don't know what do you think what do you think I don't know what do you what do you think so it's weird it's very weird

so going into this season you know obviously like mike tomlin the biggest concern around him was that is he propel is he good enough to propel a team to greatness even though he was like one of the best floor establishing coaches and i could say nfl history like that there's an argument to be made for that now You know, you bring in Patrick Graham as the defensive coordinator who obviously ran, like, clearly shows the ability to do more with less with what his experience showed with the Raiders.

You bring in Mike McCarty who, you know, has built a lot of very stable offenses throughout his NFL career.

And you roll into the season with a four-time MVP who's, like, essentially with how he's talking about, like, his career in his life it feels like this is the last year how do the steelers fans see this regime going forward just like beyond this year because outside looking in part of it felt like this is another floor raising higher as opposed to you know trying to shoot for the stars

Mm-hmm.

That's a good way to put it because I kind of felt that way.

Like with the hire, I was like, I get the hire, right? It studies the ship and gives us a captain of the ship that's done it before.

But does this catapult us? I think that's where...
