exactly yeah which like there's a whole other thing about legos and moto gp it's not on the agenda but if you get the chance go watch alex marquez's latest ad campaign for the hawker sunglasses brand because he's in this hotel and on like the caviar tray it's just legos because this man is openly obsessed with legos and i love that he's not ashamed of the fact that he loves a good legos set uh let's get talking about the motorsport which is what everyone is here for so seeing as you haven't been on since the season began because i think you were on in like january or february uh my question crazy yeah yeah it's been a while we need to catch up like both on and off the pod but um uh my question for you is what are your thoughts on like the regs so far um and we'll get into that the details of what that is but overall what's your general feeling about formula one in 2026

i'm a strong believer and don't complain about the things you cannot change

however

even i'm a little lost in the sauce this season when it comes to the priorities of the regulations.

I understand that.

It does not fill one with confidence what they're doing to say nothing of, like, not that we can blame everything on Mohammed bin Salian, but he certainly doesn't fill me with confidence, especially with the latest news about him trying to make abolished term limits.

But that's another topic for another day.

But needless to say, it looks like things could do with a little bit more of a cohesive sense of direction within the sport but like have you been enjoying it or are you one of those people like our friend from the podcast that we both listen to late breaking Blake our Australian friend who's just like I haven't watched a race this year and I hate it all so where are you on the spectrum of that to like

well with the way that the schedule's been going this year and again with my many travels I've missed the last two races i was at a wedding for miami which and this is kind of a fun fact i have been at a wedding or in a wedding every single miami grand prix since i started watching the sport so like the first weekend of may is just the wedding weekend for my people and already next may the first weekend is booked and the second weekend

jeez everybody else in your life you've had a busy schedule and i understand that just with the way that the season has been so disjointed um with the unexpected breaks due to races being rescheduled slash canceled and then what would have been a normal break but wasn't because we only had one race and in like two months um It's been hard to really get into it.

I think that's been part of the reason why MotoGP has been more of a focus for me this year.

A, it's just really exciting and I got to go to Kota and all that for the race, so it's very big and large in my mind.

But B, it's been more consistent.

They only had one Middle Eastern weight.

race to reschedule and so the gap was not near as long in MotoGP and the season started sooner so like you can get a more consistent view for the vibe and the narratives and how things are going down and F1 I mean other than the fact that Mercedes is doing well it's really hard to sort of like put your finger on where everybody else is is that how you've been feeling too?

Definitely the inconsistency has made everything feel very disjointed And for me, that mirrors these new regulations that they're really having to work the kinks out of than with this disjointed schedule.

But then from the research I was kind of doing to talk about MotoGP today, it seems like they're at the end of a regulation cycle right now, correct?

Yes, yeah.

They're essentially living their 2025 timeline this year.

So exactly.

That's exactly my point.

is that it feels a lot like how it was last year for F1, where everything was clicking along, everyone had figured out the regulations, interesting things were happening, the title fight was changing hands, and now this year, I feel, I am a Max fan, and I like Red Bull, I guess because of Max, but I like the other drivers too.

I know people have really strong feelings about Lando Norris, and especially Lando Norris as world champion.

But I just feel horrible for him that he's having this kind of like sophomore slump that he can't even control.

Like it's almost like he just doesn't even have a shot to have any sort of momentum to be a multi-year world champion.
